In a surprising partnership that breaks usual expectations, the game developer has unveiled an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Mission Uncovered

According to the formal announcement, "A mysterious meeting leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where whispers of prohibited rituals and monstrous transformations resonate through the shadows." The storyline presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret group.

The questline focuses on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying foe" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses

The teaser showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview finishes with a powerful sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Rewards and Extra Content

Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an unique katana together with several artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Special implements
• Survey Corps steed

This update also introduces the game's third no-cost story episode, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime series. The series previously featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally contained a quest that clearly referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
